Field Operations
Field Operations are under the direction and supervision of the Chief Deputy and include the patrol division and interdiction division.
Patrol Division
The function of the patrol division is to protect the lives and property of the citizens of Mills County and to maintain public peace. The uniformed deputies proactively seek out, prevent and deter crime when not responding to citizens’ calls for service. As first responders, the preservation of life and prevention of injury is of the highest priority. In addition, deputies are responsible for the protection of property, maintenance of public order, enforcement of laws and arrest of law violators. Patrol deputies answer calls for service and complaints in a timely and courteous manner, always with the communities well-being as their primary focus.
Other duties of the patrol division include vehicle crash investigation, neighborhood traffic complaints, proactive traffic law enforcement, and traffic management for special events such as parades, funerals and other public festivities.
Criminal Interdiction Division
The function of the Criminal Interdiction Division represents an active state and nation wide commitment to interupt and reduce the flow of criminal enterprises involved in drug trafficking, property crimes and crimes against persons in Mills County and the United States. This is accomplished by networking with existing state, federal and local law enforcement agencies and drug enforcement programs. The Criminal Interdiction Division has interrupted the delivery of large quantities of drugs, cash and stolen property within the county and has arrested a significant number of offenders participating in these criminal activities.
